We humans are so very arrogant about ourselves and our existence. We think of ourselves as conquerors of the universe.
We have such a large ego that we even have the audacity to be blasphemous enough to think that whatever energy it is that has created this universe engages in our day to day lives. We think that “God”, the personification of light, and “Devil”, the personification of darkness, concern themselves with the mundane activities of mere mortals such as us, when, in reality, we are as insignificant to the greater order of the universe as the micro organisms that we kill with each breath are to us. We are merely parasites, thriving on a planet existing at the far corner of the universe, gnawing at it and gradually taking the life out of it, while slowly but steadily spreading to other heavenly bodies.
The gravest mistake we make is that we let our ego get the better of us, thinking that all this is about us, trying to engage ourselves with the misconception that our lives and destinies are going to impact anything in the larger equation when we cannot face that, in reality, we are merely an infection contracted by the universe, with the only purpose of endless decay and multiplication until the defence mechanism of the universe decides to end our days.
